About

Welcome!
You are invited to join me on a journey to find the Fountain of Youth - under the guidance of those that has been there, done that. Watch secrets of those who have lived into their second century, discover habits behind “ageless” individuals who look decades younger than their biological age, and experience the mindsets driving an optimistic outlook through wars and famines. They are the ultimate survival of the fittest and the longest beneficiary from the Grace of God. Lean in as they show us what a great life is in store for us all.

__________

Both personal and professional reasons lead me to starting this blog.
Personally, I lost two of my grandparents within a year of each other. My maternal grandma had been suffering from Alzheimer’s for years before passing on in a span of hours due to a lung infection. My paternal grandpa, on the other hand, had a mind sharp as a tack till the last moment - which meant he consciously watched his body wither away to cancer and felt the excruciating pain with every fiber of his being, for months. I know both of them are in a better place now. But I wish they had spent their last years with more peace and dignity, like people covered in this blog - with a mind lucid enough to take stock of their lives and pass on their wisdom to future generations and with a body strong enough to enjoy the material pleasures of life.
Professionally, as a makeup artist, I’m asked all the time about the secrets to looking one’s best - from how to cover up zits to prevent wrinkles to make the skin glow. While I’m always happy to share what I know, I’m of the mind that makeup artists, dermatologists and doctors in this country in general are all, in one degree or another, “emergency room workers”. - We seek out their help when we have a symptom (such as zits, skin discolorations, wrinkles, difficulty breathing, etc.) for which we need immediate relief. However, glowing skin, good health and longevity are often results of good habits developed and maintained over time. And no one is better qualified to give advice on living a long and healthy life than the people covered in this blog (speaking of glowing skin, check out what 111-year-old Bernando Lapallo has to say about his skin care routine).
While it’s too late for my grandparents to become the indie-living centenarians, the rest of us all have a shot at this. This blog attempts to find and lead us to that Fountain of Youth.
May you live long and beautiful!

___________

I dedicate this blog to my grandparents, two of the most loving and generous people I’ve ever known.

I love you and think about you every day.
